Book Blog

I am stuck on an island for 1 month. Food and shelter is provided. There is no TV or WiFi and I am allowed to take one book. Just one. The only book I could read for a whole month. I choose the Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor book. It is the second book in the series about Magnus Chase. In these books Magnus is a half-blood which basically means that either his mum or dad is a Norse god. In particular Magnus’ dad is Frey the norse god of fertility and warmth. These books are all set in modern times and are very recent which means that there are a lot of references to things that kids do now. In all of the books the kids parents are all gods. They stay alive because of the ‘mortals’ stories that they tell about them. The reason that I would take this book is because when I am reading it I am taken away to a whole new world all about mythology. My imagination takes over and I feel like I am right there while it is all happening. I have learnt so much about norse mythology just from reading this books. I find these books so factual as well as funny. The way that these books are written you learn a lot in a way that isn’t like having facts piled on you. I find the norse mythology really interesting and I could read this book 20 times over without getting bored of it.
