If you could go back to any era and why? Mine is simple. Also for a simple reason, 1960. Now, Why you ask? One word (name) Pele. Pele is arguably the best footballer ever. He set the football world alight in 1958 when he was 17 scoring, becoming the youngest player in the whole tournament and scoring 6 goals , he became the youngest ever player to score a hattrick in the FIFA world cup. He won three FIFA world cups, one in 1958, one in 1962 and one in 1970. Pele played 1363 matches in his career and scored 1281 goals making him the most successful goalscorer in world football. Ever. If I could go back to the 1960’s then I would absolutely love to meet Pele or even go watch one of his matches. Pele is one of my biggest inspirations because of the impact he made on world football. He started playing football for Santos at the age 15 and the Brazil National team at age 16. Pele’s career spanned out over 21 years. He only played for two teams, Santos and New York Cosmos, as well as playing 91 matches for Brazil. Pele is Credited with making the phrase ‘The Beautiful game’ which is widely known as footballs nickname. In 1999 Pele won the Footballer of the century award joint with Diego Maradona. This was an amazing achievement considering that his rivals in the Award were such as Ronaldo, Alfredo di Stefano and Ferenc Puskas, just to name a few. Thank you for reading my blog post.
